Diffused Air Aeration
Diffused Air Aeration
Aerobic micro-organisms in the Activated sludge process require air for the digestion of organic matter. Depending on the application specifics either fine bubble or coarse bubble diffusers are used to discharge the required air below the water surface. Next to conventual activated sludge plants aeration diffusers are also used in SBR (sequencing
batch reactor), CSR (Continuously sequencing reactors) and BNR (Biological nutrient removal) systems.
AET provides consulting and product solutions
for diffused air aeration systems.
Fixed grid aeration
Disc, tube and strip diffusers for fixed grid aeration systems available
in EPDM, silicone and PU.
AETs scope of supply includes:
AETs scope of supply includes:
- Diffusers incl. mounting system
- Lateral air piping
- Continual & automatic condensation purge system
- Transition coupling to drop pipes
- Drop pipe to the top of the tank with flange connection to yard piping
- Blowers and controls
Retrievable diffuser systems
The Jaeger-aeration retrievable strip diffuser rack systems provide a multi-level system redundancy and a fast and easy
way to maintain diffusers without basin dewatering. The diffuser racks can be designed for any tank geometry (rectangular, round, toroidal) and mounted to basin walls as well as bridges or catwalks. Better oxygen transfer of fine bubble strip diffusers and DO load dependent air supply decrease overall power costs by up to 25%.
Activated sludge systems
Turnkey aeration solutions for activated
sludge applications including:
- Diffusers system – fixed grid, retrievable, or retrievable bridge mounted
- Blower package
- Blower air manifold
- Dissolved Oxygen and ORP control for process management
- VFD Blower control cabinet
- Low speed submerged & retrievable mixers
- VFD mixer motor control
- SCADA System

Fields Of Application
- BOD removal, nitrification, phosphate removal
- Upgrade of existing activated sludge processes
- SBRs, CSRs, BNRs
- Municipal waste water treatment plants
- FBBRs and MBR
Advantages Of Diffused Air Aeration
- Deeper basins than surface aeration systems
- Better Oxygen transfer rate because the aeration is from the bottom up
- Integration of fixed bed biofilm systems easy
- Little maintenance and easy accessible air compressor
- Adjustable system especially in combination with DO/ammonia controls
